“Ancient Chinese Gold Techniques” Research Project with the Art Museum of The Chinese University of Hong Kong
Since 2014, the Chow Tai Fook Master Studio has been collaborating with the Art Museum of The Chinese University of Hong Kong on the "Ancient Chinese Gold Techniques" research project, which involves a multidisciplinary investigation of ancient gold techniques. The research project has clarified definitions, set industry standards, and promoted sustainable development through publications, public exhibitions and activities, having reached over 62,000 participants.
Building on previous phases, Phase Three was launched in 2024, together with the Goldsmith STEAM Maker programme that partners with ten primary schools to enrich craft education for the next generation. This five-year programme aims to inspire students the art of ancient gold craftsmanship through teaching kits, student learning handbooks, little docent training workshops, hands-on workshops for gold craftsmanship experience, and school mini-exhibitions. It is expected to benefit at least 9,000 students, fostering an appreciation for Chinese culture and empowering them to carry forward this rich legacy.
